Quit Victoria’s Aboriginal programs have a strong emphasis on working collaboratively with Victorian Aboriginal communities in an effort to increase the focus on tobacco issues and the reduction of Aboriginal tobacco use. All partnerships seek to utilise the expertise and knowledge of partner organisations to support tailored programs that cater to the needs of the local community.

Quit Victoria partners with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations as well as government-based organisations and training and research institutions. Some of our major partners are the Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO), the Centre for Excellence in Indigenous Tobacco Control (CEITC), and Koori Units within Government Departments. Quit Victoria has significant partnerships with Aboriginal Community Health organisations, particularly with the six Aboriginal Healthy Lifestyle Teams disseminated strategically across the state. These include the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service (VAHS) Healthy Lifestyle Team, the Dandenong and District Aborigines Corporation (Bunurong Healthy Lifestyle Team), the Mallee District Aboriginal Corporation (MDAS) Healthy Lifestyle Teams, and other Aboriginal Community Organisations and services when the opportunity arises.
